Teachers and Support Staff - Part & Full Time

Reports to: Head Teacher

Status: Hourly / Non-exempt

Typical Hours: 7am – 5:30pm (shifts will vary within this time frame)

Qualifications:

  • CPR & First Aid certifications or enrolled in certification.
  • Clear NH state criminal background check and drug screen. 
  • Some experience in childcare or education (minimum of 1500 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed child care program). 
  • Meet State education requirements (minimum of 9 early childhood credits, including at least one 3 credit course in child growth and development, from a regionally accredited college). 
  • Montessori Certification preferred, but not required. 

General Description of Work:

Responsible for assisting the Head Teacher in implementing and managing age-appropriate classroom activities that have been established by Little Tree Education, the Montessori philosophy and in accordance with the New Hampshire Child Care Division standards.

Work under the direction of the Head Teacher to maintain the highest standard of care for children in the classroom that is safe and nurturing while effectively meeting the children’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual development. 

Essential Functions:

  • Work with the Head Teacher to implement the classroom curriculum.  
  • Record observations of each child to aid in the development of individualized curriculum plans. 
  • Document behavioral concerns and report them to the Head Teacher. 
  • Share developmental progress with the Head Teacher as appropriate. 
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom that follows the requirements for a Montessori workspace. Involve the children as much as possible or when appropriate. 
  • Encourage self-help skills in the children.  
  • Under the direction of the Head Teacher, participate in parent-teacher conferences. 
  • Record data using the child information database. 
  • Accurately record meals served, diapers changed and sleep. 
  • Participate in all training deemed necessary by the Center Director and Owners, and by the State of New Hampshire for certification and continued certification. Minimum of 18-hours of continuing education per/year.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability:

  • Teacher qualifications per New Hampshire State Certification Requirements (transcripts must be submitted for review).
  • Some understanding of the Montessori philosophy. 
  • Ability to multi-task, prompt and thorough in job performance. 
  • Record work time with accuracy. 
  • Self-starter and ability to think creatively and problem-solve. 
  • Demonstrate ability to be a team player. 
  • Ability to effectively handle tasks as assigned. 
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted.

Substitute Teacher

Reports to: Head Teacher

Status: Hourly / Non-exempt

Typical Hours: 7am – 5:30pm (shifts will vary within this time frame)

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in ECE or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of early childhood development
  • Montessori Certification preferred, but not required. 
  • CPR & First Aid certifications or enrolled in certification.
  • Clear a State criminal background check. 
  • Clear a routine drug screening 
  • Some experience in childcare or education with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (children 6 weeks - 6 years)
  • Able to respond to early morning phone calls for substitution

Responsible for assisting the Head and Assistant Teachers in implementing and managing age-appropriate classroom activities that have been established by Little Tree Education, the Montessori philosophy and in accordance with the New Hampshire Child Care Division standards. Work under the direction of the Head Teacher to maintain the highest standard of care for children in the classroom that is safe and nurturing while effectively meeting the children’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual development.

  • Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in any program in need of support to maintain staff/child ratios and to maintain a nurturing and efficient classroom environment.
